Rockies, Indians FInally Complete Trade For Ubaldo Jimenez, According To Report

Ubaldo Jimenez did start for the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night, but Esmil Rogers was warming up concurrently with Jimenez on the pitcher's mound. And Jimenez struggled out there, allowing four runs in a laboring effort.

He completed the first inning of the game and then started to hug and shake hands with other players. The Rockies will receive a fourth player in the deal: Joe Gardner. He is a low-90s sinkerball pitcher who needs his changeup to develop, allowing him to become a middle of the rotation starter.

So, the Rockies receive RHP Alex White, LHP Drew Pomeranz (who can't be traded until mid-August because he signed at last year's deadline), 1B/OF Matt McBride and RHP Joe Gardner. White and Pomeranz are exceptional gets and Gardner is a nice pice. The bat of McBride is the downer part of the deal, as Jason Kipnis and Lonnie Chisenhall had been speculated at one point.

Welcome new players and a fond farewell to Ubaldo Jimenez (who deserved better than this treatment on his final day in a Rockies uniform).
