Dan O'Dowd Doesn't Approve Of Twitter For Trade Talks

On Sunday, Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman reported on Twitter that the Rockies had revealed to the Yankees the players that general manager Dan O'Dowd would want in return for Ubaldo Jimenez. You know, that perfect package. Supposedly those players were catcher Jesus Montero, LHP Manny Banuelos, RHP Dellin Betances and RHP Ivan Nova.

True or not? As Dan O'Dowd told the Denver Post's Dave Krieger in response to those rumors:

"As is common in the Twitter universe, it's better to be first than to be right," he said.

But that is how things start these days. Twitter allows reporters to instantly interact with their readers and a "scoop" like the one Heyman got would certainly generate noise. Whether it's true or not, how are we to tell since the source is left unnamed?

But then is O'Dowd really being truthful here? Would he really want to reveal his hand and say that that is what he would accept and nothing less? It's all webs within webs inside of one giant web.

For now, it's only safe to say that, yes, the Rockies are discussing the possibility of trading Ubaldo Jimenez, but it's not imperative to move him. After all, it may never be that important at all to do.
