Rockies Vs. Indians: Colorado Has Chance To Sweep Cleveland

The Colorado Rockies can complete a sweep of the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday evening after Tuesday night's 4-3 victory. Closer Huston Street walked a tight rope to get his 22nd save of the season, but he was able to preserve Seth Smith's go-ahead home run for the victory.

The Rockies turn to Jason Hammel for the chance at the sweep. Though Hammel picked up the victory in his previous start, that was because the Rockies wound up putting 13 runs on the board. The Tigers tagged him for six runs over 6.1 innings. He faced two bases-loaded situations, escaped the first one with a walk but then allowed a grand slam in the sixth inning. His ERA moved back to 4.00, the first time it's been that high since the middle of April. All of his experience against the Indians came in his time with the Tampa Bay Rays. He was a reliever in four games and a starter in two other ones. In his one career start at Progressive Field, Hammel allowed six runs in 5.1 innings, but did pick up eight strikeouts. History is bunk, right?

Josh Tomlin is in his second year in the Majors for the Indians and has an 8-4 record through 14 starts. He hasn't walked many batters, just 12 in 89.1 innings, but gives up just under one hit per inning with 84 so far. He's not much of a strikeout pitcher (5.1 per nine innings). His 96 ERA+ shows he's slightly below average for a pitcher this season.
