The Colorado Rockies couldn't make it four wins in a row, as they fell to the Dodgers, 11-7, on Saturday night. But on Sunday afternoon there will be a De La Rosa on the mound. Of course, it isn't the Rockies' Jorge De La Rosa; no, it's the Dodgers' Rubby De La Rosa, who came up to the big leagues right around the time Jorge De La Rosa went down with injury.
Rubby De La Rosa began his career with three relief appearances in May and just made his first career start on June 7. He picked up the win by allowing just one run on five hits in five innings to the Phillies, but he also walked five and struck out four. According to FanGraphs, De La Rosa's fastball has averaged around 95.8 mph, which he complements with a changeup, a curveball and a slider.
Ubaldo Jimenez has found good things in June so far. On June 1, he threw a four-hit complete game shutout against the Dodgers in Los Angeles and struck out seven batters on the way. After picking up his first win in that game, Jimenez fell to 1-6 after his start against the San Diego Padres. But that loss hardly falls on his shoulder. He allowed two runs in seven innings and struck out eight. The problem was that the offense was shutout for the game.
First pitch is scheduled 1:10 p.m. MT.
