The Colorado Rockies enter Sunday's game with the San Francisco Giants looking to avoid their first losing sweep of the season. The Rockies lost the first two games of the series on walkoff plays in the ninth inning each time. Another loss and the Rockies could hold just a one-game lead over the Giants for the lead in the NL West.
Jorge De La Rosa will take the mound for the Rockies. De La Rosa received a no-decision in his last start, but won his previous three before that. That last start (May 3), De La Rosa allowed three runs in the third inning, surrounding that inning with zeroes on both sides after that. He struck out six before leaving the game after the sixth inning. Felipe Paulino wound up surrendering the game-winning hit to Justin Upton on a home run to start the eighth inning.
The Giants will have Ryan Vogelsong continue as Barry Zito's replacement. After his call-up, he made two relief appearances before starting in his last two games. He struck out eight in 5.2 innings against the Pirates, but then allowed five runs (on two homers) in four innings to the Mets on May 3. This will be his first career start against the Rockies.
First pitch is schedule for 2:05 p.m. ROOT Sports will have all your Rockies coverage.
