Rockies Vs. Diamondbacks: Jason Hammel Pitches For 4th Win

The Colorado Rockies have a chance to take this road series with the Arizona Diamondbacks after defeating them on Wednesday night, 6-4. Todd Helton and Chris Iannetta played key roles with run-scoring doubles and home runs, while Jhoulys Chacin kept the D'Backs to two runs in seven innings.

The Rockies will put Jason Hammel on the mound, winner of two straight. Both wins were the only ones to come in series with the Marlins and Pirates. After pitching just five innings in his season debut, Hammel has managed at least six innings in his last four starts and reached seven against the Pirates. His 3.23 ERA is third-best among starters on the team.

Ian Kennedy was moved up a day in the rotation for the Diamondbacks. Kennedy started Opening Day against the Rockies, allowing four runs in six innings. Kennedy is coming off two good starts. He threw a complete game shutout against Philadelphia Phillies two starts ago, striking out 10, and then held the Cubs to three runs over 7.2 innings (but J.J. Putz gave up two runs in the ninth to lose, 5-3).

The Rockies hold a four-game lead over the San Francisco Giants for the NL West lead.

First pitch is scheduled once again for 7:40 p.m. MT. Tune in to ROOT Sports to see the Rockies.
