The Colorado Rockies road success didn't find itself against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. While both starters, Jorge De La Rosa and Joe Saunders, each gave up three runs, it came down to a game of bullpens after the sixth inning. An ill-timed pitch from Felipe Paulino in the bottom of the eighth and Justin Upton hit what proved to be the game-winning homer in a 4-3 victory.
The Rockies' Jhoulys Chacin has lost his last two starts, but in his last start his offense was unable to out a run on the board in a 3-0 loss to the Cubs. He struck out eight batters in seven innings. He's stranding runners at an 82 percent rate and inducing ground balls 60 percent of the time on balls in play. In two careers starts at Chase Field, Chacin has 18 strikeouts in 13.1 innings and a 2.03 ERA.
Opposing Chacin will be Barry Enright. Enright has a 5.76 ERA in five starts and has been hurt by walking 3.3 batters per nine innings and allowing 11.2 hits per nine innings. He's also served up six home runs in 29.2 innings.
Despite the loss on Tuesday, the Rockies (17-10) maintain a four-game lead over the Dodgers and the Giants, a 4.5-game lead over the D'Backs and a 6.5-game lead over the Padres.
First pitch is schedule for 7:40 p.m. MT. Tune into ROOT Sports for all the action.
