On Tuesday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies placed Ty Wigginton on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. As we learned earlier in the day, the corresponding move was recalling Ian Stewart from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Stewart is available for Tuesday night's series opener with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he will not start.
Wigginton hit .233/.309/.383 with two home runs. He has played around the baseball field, but has seen most of his time at third base, though Jose Lopez took that over once Stewart was sent down on April 19. Wigginton hurt his oblique on a stolen base attempt against the Cubs last week.
Here is tonight's Rockies starting lineup:
CF Dexter Fowler
2B Jonathan Herrera
1B Todd Helton
SS Troy Tulowitzki
LF Carlos Gonzalez
3B Jose Lopez
RF Ryan Spilborghs
C Chris Iannetta
P Jorge De La Rosa
The Diamondbacks are starting Joe Saunders on the mound, a lefty, which means Jim Tracy sits Seth Smith and starts Spilborghs.
