For those of us who remember catcher Brent Mayne's time with the Colorado Rockies, it's likely because of his one pitching appearance with the team back on August 22, 2000. He picked up the victory in a 7-6 decision after Buddy Bell went through nine pitchers before him.
↵Mayne also had a good bat, something the Rockies have usually had trouble with at the catcher spot. He hit .311/.382/.404 in a season and a half with the Rockies before he was traded to the Kansas City Royals for Sal "Fu-Manchu" Fasano and Mac Suzuki.
↵Mayne ended a 15-year career in the majors after the 2004 season, but on Thursday, May 26, there was a Brent Mayne jersey sighting at the Rockies' game with the Arizona Diamondbacks:
↵↵↵Brent Mayne, No. 13. Huh, what? Mayne was No. 8 with the Rockies. How do we explain this one, anyone? Could it be for "??? Mayne"? You decide.
