Rockies Trade Felipe Paulino To Kansas City Royals

During Thursday night's game with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies announced that Felipe Paulino had been traded to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations. This comes as no surprise as the Rockies had designated him for assignment over the weekend.

Paulino allowed a walkoff two-run home run to the Brewers' Prince Fielder last Friday, sparing the team from having to blow the game for a fourth time (Rafael Betancourt and Huston Street blew the game earlier). But it was more than just that performance that led to this decision.

After an April that had one horrible appearance (five runs in one-third of an inning), Paulino allowed at least one run in five of his eight May appearances. Paulino was never quite able to harness his high-90s fastball.

Maybe the Royals can turn Paulino around, sort of like how the Rockies turned around Jorge De La Rosa after they received him from the Royals.
