Diamondbacks Vs. Rockies: Colorado Tries To Salvage Series On Thursday

After Wednesday night's 2-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies fell to 6-11 in one-run contests. Jason Hammel was at the top of his game as those two runs scored as unearned ones. Alfredo Amezaga messed up a throw to start the sixth inning, which eventually led to run-scoring plays.

The Rockies will look to avoid falling even further behind in the division on Thursday afternoon when they put Clayton Mortensen on the mound. Clayton pitched well in his start against the Brewers on May 21, allowing three runs in 6.2 innings. A Prince Fielder RBI double, a run-scoring Jose Lopez error and a Jonathan Lucroy did the damage. But the Rockies offense could only muster a Carlos Gonzalez solo home run and a Seth Smith RBI ground out.

Micah Owings has a 5.06 ERA after one start this season. He gave up two home runs in 5.1 innings against the Twins. Owings is also known for being a two-way player as he can also play the field and hit.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MT.
