Rockies DFA Felipe Paulino; Greg Reynolds Expected To Be Called Up

The Felipe Paulino experiment in the Colorado Rockies bullpen didn't even last two months. According to the Denver Post's Troy Renck, Paulino was designated for assignment after Saturday's loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Acquired from the Houston Astros in offseason for Clint Barmes, Paulino was expected to compete for the fifth spot in the rotation, but he soon turned into a bullpen candidate once spring training started. Things never quite worked out for him as he was 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA in 18 appearances. In his last appearance, he gave up a towering walkoff home run to Prince Fielder in Friday's 14-inning game.

Renck further reports that the Rockies are expected to recall Greg Reynolds from Triple-A so that he can help fill in any pitching gaps this coming week. The Rockies play a doubleheader with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, which means another pitcher will be needed on Saturday. Reynolds was with the Rockies earlier this season when Ubaldo Jimenez was on the disabled list. He went 1-0 in two starts with a 3.27 ERA.
