The Colorado Rockies were on the wrong end of a shutout at Coors Field on Friday night, losing to the Pirates, 3-0. Kevin Correia and his bullpen held the Rockies to just five singles, while the Pirates' offense scored two runs on two solo home runs.
But Saturday night should be, as Jason Hammel and Paul Maholm take to the mound. Hammel last pitched on April 23, picking up the Rockies' lone win in their series with the Florida Marlins. He allowed just one run on seven hits in 6.2 innings.
Maholm, meanwhile, is coming off his best start of the season so far. Maholm had entered his start against the Washington Nationals on a three-game losing streak, but he struck out eight in seven innings to pick up the 3-1 victory. His first loss of the season came on Pittsburgh when they played the Rockies in early April. Troy Tulowitzki hit a solo home run and drove in a total of three runs off of him.
Tonight's lineup for the Rockies is:
CF Dexter Fowler
2B Jonathan Herrera
1B Todd Helton
SS Tulowitzki
LF Carlos Gonzalez
3B Jose Lopez
RF Seth Smith
C Chris Iannetta
P Hammel
First pitch is schedule for 6:10 p.m. MT, and ROOT Sports will have the broadcast.
