Rockies Vs. Royals: Esmil Rogers Draws Start In Place Of Injured Aaron Cook

The Colorado Rockies are in Surprise, Ariz. today for a road game against the Kansas City Royals. The Rockies will be without Troy Tulowitzki (bruised heel) and Todd Helton for the second game in a row, and Jim Tracy will miss the game to attend the funeral of Jenny Colborn, the wife of Jim Colborn, Tracy's pitching coach in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. Bench coach Tom Runnells will manage the team on Saturday.

Esmil Rogers draws the start for the Rockies with Aaron Cook's shoulder still an issue. Felipe Paulino would appear to be the front-runner to replace Cook in the rotation, but Rogers will battle Paulino for the spot should Cook's injury prove to be serious. Rafael Betancourt and Franklin Morales should make appearances on the mound.

Vin Mazzaro starts for the Royals and will be followed by Everett Teaford, Will Smith, Chris Dwyer and Kanekoa Texeira.

The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. MT. KOA will have coverage of the game.
