After injuring himself early in the Colorado Rockies' first spring training game back on Feb. 26, Ian Stewart is back from a sprained MCL and a bruised bone. He will play third base and bat eighth in the lineup against the Texas Rangers.
Young4, Fowler8, Wigginton3, Tulowitzki6, Giambi DH, Spilborghs9, Pacheco2, Stewart5, Blackmon7.
Stewart's return to spring training games may be a blow to Jordan Pacheco's chances of making the Opening Day roster, but there is still plenty of spring action to determine the catcher's prospects for April 1. Charlie Blackmon is also another Rockies prospect who has put the team on notice that he could eventually play with the team later this season.
The Rockies will start Jason Hammel on the mound, who will be the team's fourth starter behind Ubaldo Jimenez, Jhoulys Chacin and Jorge De La Rosa. Esmil Rogers is the front-runner to take the last spot in the rotation. The Rangers counter with C.J. Wilson.
The MLB Network will televise this game at 7:00 p.m. MT.
