Rockies Vs. Brewers, Spring Training: Esmil Rogers Takes His Latest Turn For A Rotation Spot

Fresh off an 8-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim, the Colorado Rockies travel to Maryvale Stadium to face the Milwaukee Brewers. Esmil Rogers will start for the Rockies in his pursuit to capture the fifth spot in the rotation. Felipe Paulino faltered earlier in the week as he struggles through four innings on Tuesday.

As it stands, the Rockies would only need to use their fifth starter three times in April, not making the team dependent on whoever wins the battle.

The Brewers will start Shaun Marcum, whom they acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays for second base prospect Brett Lawrie. But the Brewers' biggest acquisition of the offseason was pitcher Zack Greinke of the Kansas City Royals. The Brewers are going all in now to win a World Series.

[UPDATE] The Brewers switched starters and are going with Chris Narveson.

Troy Renck has the Rockies' lineup:

CF Willy Taveras
SS Hernan Iribarren
LF Carlos Gonzalez
3B Ty Wigginton
1B Todd Helton
2B Jose Lopez
RF Ryan Spilborghs
C Chris Iannetta
P Rogers

And here are the other pitchers scheduled for today: Matt Reynolds, Rafael Betancourt, Casey Weathers, Greg Smith, Alan Johnson, Sean White and Matt Belisle. Billy Buckner had been scheduled to pitch, but in the picture you can see he was moved to Friday.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. MT.
