The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks kick off their slate of spring training games at their shared facility of Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Saturday afternoon. The Diamondbacks will be the home team in this contest, which starts at 1:10 p.m. MT.
According to Troy Renck, the pitchers in tomorrow's game will be Ubaldo Jimenez to start and throw two innings, Greg Reynolds, Claudio Vargas, Billy Buckner and Edgmer Escalona. Jimenez, obviously, isn't pitching for anything--he'll be the team's Opening Day starter. Greg Reynolds, a former No. 2 overall pick, has had injuries mar his career, but the end of his 2010 season in the minors was encouraging. Vargas and Buckner are pitching for spots with the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox as non-roster invitees. Escalona had a cup of coffee with the Rockies in September, but he needs to find consistency if he is to make the majors again.
Pitchers for the D'Backs and lineups later should they be available before the first pitch.
FSN Rocky Mountain and KOA will have coverage. For those who live out-of-state, MLB.tv will also air the game. The MLB Network will have the game on delay at 9:00 p.m. MT.
