The Colorado Rockies announced a couple coaching changes to the organizational staff on Friday afternoon. Hi-A Modesto Nuts manager Jerry Weinstein will move to the majors and serve as the Rockies' major league catching coach. He will help out rookie Wilin Rosario and Chris Iannetta. Marv Foley, who previously held the position, will return after a one-year absence to be the minor league catching coordinator.
Lenn Sakata was promoted from being the Low-A Asheville Tourists hitting coach to the top job in Modesto. He previously was a coach in Japan and had served as a manager throughout out the San Francisco Giants' minor league organization during the 2000s.
Additionally, Bo McLaughlin will move from being the team's pitching coordinator to the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox pitching coach. McLaughlin swaps positions with Doug Linton.
