Don Baylor To Interview For Toronto Manager Opening

The Colorado Rockies have given permission for hitting coach and former manager Don Baylor to interview with the Toronto Blue Jays for their managerial position that was recently vacated by Cito Gaston, who retired from baseball.

Baylor has long expressed his desire to manage a major league club again, and was mentioned as a likely candidate for the Baltimore Orioles position that opened up earlier this season.

It appears likely that Don Baylor will not return as hitting coach for the Rockies next season, even if he doesn't win the Toronto gig. Don Baylor won the Manager of the Year award in 1995 with the Colorado Rockies, after leading them to their franchise first playoff appearance.
