Rally Falls Short In The Ninth Inning

The 2010 Colorado Rockies just ran out of time and energy. After being eliminated from the playoffs last night, the Rockies came to the ballpark on the verge of being swept at home for the first time in 2010.

Jhoulys Chacin struggled, giving up a grand slam to Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp in the second inning that gave Los Angeles a commanding 5-1 lead. Colorado fought back, however, as Miguel Olivo hit his first homerun since July in the third inning and Ryan Spilborghs hit a 2-run single in sixth to make the game close.

Unfortunately, just like the Rockies’ season, it was a case of too little, too late. Colorado loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, scoring on a groundout by Seth Smith. But Miguel Olivo lined out to end the game and the season at Coors Field.
