Tracy Ringolsby has released some initial numbers on the Troy Tulowitzki extension, confirming that the contract will run through 2020. Here is the latest:
Correction, Tuloi is $157.75 mil 10 yrs — $23.75 mil for 3 yrs previoulsy guaratneed, $15 mil for 2014 option and $119 mill for 6 new yrs.
Though the official details of the contract remain unconfirmed, these numbers fall directly in line with what many sources have speculated. It keeps the current extension --signed after his first full season in 2007 and the largest deal ever given to a player with less than two years of major league service -- and automatically accepts the $15 million option for 2014. It also locks in Tulowitzki, an MVP candidate and one of the top position players on baseball, to an undermarket deal for a player of his caliber for six more years.
An official press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 30 at 2 p.m. MDT
