Several days ago I suggested that the Rockies should pursue Zach Duke, whom the Pittsburgh Pirates had recently designated for assignment. As it turns out, the Rockies will be unable to pursue Duke, because the Arizona Diamondbacks just traded a player to be named to the Pirates for him. So, where does that leave the Rockies?
↵The Rockies won't be re-signing Jorge De La Rosa by the looks of it. Nor will they sign Hiroki Kuroda or Ted Lilly, both rejoining the Dodgers. Jake Westbrook re-signed with the St. Louis Cardinals, and Javier Vazquez appears ready to stay on the East Coast by signing with the Marlins.
↵How about Carl Pavano? Troy Renck reports that a source knows the Rockies are still in on the pitcher. As Andrew Martin suggests over at Purple Row, Carl Pavano would be an all right solution until the Rockies see one of their prospects in the minors be ready for the move to the majors. Would Pavano be willing to sign a two-year deal with the Rockies?
↵One thing I know for sure, Pavano needs to bring that cool 'stache with him.
