Renck: Rockies 'Feeling' Jorge De La Rosa Will Receive Four-Year Deal From Another Team

While the Rockies continue to search for options outside of the organization to bolster the roster, Jorge De La Rosa appears headed to leave Denver for new scenery. According to the Denver Post’s Troy Renck:

Rockies walked away from meeting with De La Rosa’s representative feeling like he will get a four-year deal from another team.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

The main sticking point between the Rockies, Jorge De La Rosa and a new contract has been the length of any such deal. The Rockies do not want to go more than three years, while De La Rosa wants a four- or five-year deal. Now that both sides have met, it appears that there will be no way for the Rockies to retain De La Rosa’s services.

When De La Rosa, a Type-A free agent, signs with another team, the Rockies will offer arbitration as a formality in order to collect draft compensation picks. The Rockies will receive a compensatory pick in the supplemental first round and a pick from the signing team.
