Tracy Ringolsby reports that the Rockies will exercise the option in catcher Miguel Olivo’s contract:
Rockies will exercise $2.5 million option on contract of C Miguel Olivo.
One question that will need to be answered this offseason is what the Rockies will do with catcher Chris Iannetta. Under managers Clint Hurdle and Jim Tracy, Iannetta has never gained traction as the starting catcher, having lost playing time to Yorvit Torrealba and Miguel Olivo. A trade seems likely at this point.
If a trade were to happen, the Rockies have Michael McKenry as a possible backup and Paul Phillips is always a possibility.
