MLS Standings 2012: Colorado In Eighth Place With Nine Games To Play

With only nine games left in the 2012 Major League Soccer season it is looking less and less like the Colorado Rapids will not make the MLS Cup playoffs. The top-five teams in the Western Conference qualify for the postseason, and currently the Rapids are in eighth place after their latest draw with Chivas USA.

Colorado has 26 points on the season. They find themselves one point behind Chivas USA for seventh place, but made no headway with their recent draw. Colorado is six points behind FC Dallas for six points and 11 points behind Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the fifth and final playoff spot.

Next up for the Rapids is a road game at the home of the Western Conference-leading San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, August 25. Colorado will follow that up by visiting the last place Portland Timbers on August 31.
