Real Salt Lake downed the Colorado Rapids 2-0 on Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium. The win makes Real Salt Lake the second team to reach 15 points on the new MLS season and improves the team to 5-1 overall. The Rapids will remain at nine points as their record falls to 3-2.
Álvaro Saborío put Real Salt Lake on the board first, just 20 minutes into the contest. Saborio received a pass from teammate Tony Beltran, and Saborio was able to do the rest by beating Colorado goalie Matt Pickens.
Striker Fabián Espíndola would ice the match for Real Salt Lake in the 57th minute when he beat Pickens to make it 2-0. The goal was the third of the campaign for Espíndola, and gave the striker 29 career goals for Real Salt Lake, tying him with Robbie Findley for the club record.
