Rapids Vs. Galaxy Final Score: Colorado Comeback Falls Short, L.A. Wins 2-1

The Colorado Rapids (3-4-0, 9 pts) could not overcome their early two-goal deficit on Saturday, falling 2-1 to the L.A. Galaxy (3-3-0, 9 pts).

Both M David Beckham and F Landon Donovan made it into the lineup for the star-studded Galaxy, but it was D Marvell Wynne who scored the first goal for Los Angeles. The Rapids defenseman found himself in the wrong place when Beckham chipped his penalty kick to M Mike McGee, who fired a header that Wynne knocked into his own goal.

With a 1-0 lead, the Rapids then allowed US superstar Landon Donovan to bolt past a line of defenders for an easy shot on G Matt Pickens to give the Galaxy a 2-0 lead. The Rapids fought back, getting a goal from Omar Cummings (63') and then earning a key penalty shot in extra minutes, but a diving save from G Josh Saunders sealed the Galaxy victory:
