Rapids Vs. Fire Recap: Cummings Leads Rapids To 2-0 Victory

The Colorado Rapids improved to 3-1-0 on the 2012 season with a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire on Sunday, thanks to a game winning goal in the 58th minute from star forward Omar Cummings. The goal, Cummings' second of the year, was set up by Brian Mullan and was then augmented in extra time by a goal from Kamani Hill.

Rapids keeper Matt Pickens tallied his second shutout of the year (and 23rd of his career) in turning away all five of the Fire's shots on goal. The game was even for much of the first half but the Rapids turned it on in the second, and ended up with a rather dominating performance, firing off six more shots than Chicago and controlling possession for 61% of the game.

The Rapids will be off until Saturday, when they'll travel to Utah to take on Real Salt Lake.
