The Colorado Rapids made a trade on Friday when they acquired L.A. Galaxy forward Edson Buddle for cash considerations, and they gave up their first round pick in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. Buddle has had a stellar soccer career, he recently spent a year with FC Ingolstadt in the German 2 Bundesliga before rejoining the Galaxy in February of this past year.
Buddle is not the player who was a dominant force in MLS in his prior stop with the Galaxy, which was from 2007-10. In his time in Los Angeles, Buddle scored 93 goals in just over 11 MLS seasons, plus he is the fourth all-time leading score for Los Angeles, with 42 goals. He also is a two-time MLS All-Star and represented the United States in the 2010 World Cup.
Buddle is a solid add to this Rapids team. Look for him to be a part-time starter and a strong backup this upcoming season.
