MLS Standings 2012: Rapids remain in seventh, out of playoff picture

The Colorado Rapids remain in seventh place in the Western Conference, following their 4-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

With a record of 9-19-4, not much has gone right for the Rapids this season. Colorado could very well end up in last place of the Western Conference as well, as the Rapids lead the Portland Timbers by one point, and Chivas USA by two points, with just two games left to play in Major League Soccer's regular season.

Colorado will look to end the season on a good note, as they prepare to take on Chivas USA on Oct. 20, before officially ending the season on Oct. 27 against the Houston Dynamo. The Rapids will have an opportunity to play spoiler against Houston, as the Dynamo are fighting for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Four Western Conference teams have already clinched playoff berths, as the Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake, Seattle Sounders FC and L.A. Galaxy are already headed to postseason play. The Vancouver Whitecaps currently lead FC Dallas by four points, for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
