Colorado Rapids And Real Espana Go Into Halftime At 1-0

The Colorado Rapids chose a B lineup against Real Espana today at Estadio Francisco Morazán, and the lineup provided has played quite well, managing to produce a defensive stalwart and a bit of offense as well as the two teams have played to a 1-0 halftime draw.

Most of Colorado’s best offensive chances came early in the match when Omar Cummings and Andre Akpan put together a couple of shots together, with most missing the net. Since those couple of shots the offensive fervor has mostly been on Real Espana’s side as they made Stewart Ceus the more busy keeper on the day. Espana also hit the crossbar with a long shot in the 42nd minute in the best chance of the match before the goal was scored.

Colorado scored the only goal of the game right at the death of the first half when Jeff Larentowicz took a fantastic backpass from Ross LaBauex at the edge of the 18 and did one of his trademark low blasts right into the far corner to give the Rapids a lead.

Colorado came into this match looking for a draw it seemed and played a bunkering style for a majority of the first half but that late goal will most likely have the Rapids looking for three points in the second half.
