Colorado Rapids Will Visit President Barack Obama To Be Honored For 2010 MLS Cup Victory

The Colorado Rapids will visit the White House on Monday, June 27, to be honored for their 2010 MLS Cup victory by President Barack Obama. On November 21, 2010, the Rapids defeated FC Dallas, 2-1, in overtime to secure their first MLS Cup.

It's been some time since a Colorado professional team even came close to getting a chance at visiting the White House. The Rockies came close in 2007 before the Red Sox swept them in the World Series. The Air Force Falcons, though, spent a day at the White House back in April to be honored for winning the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy during the 2010 college football season. It was the first time in years that the Falcons had won the trophy over their fellow service academies.

I'm sure the Rapids will present the President with a jersey and a ball.
