While the NFL Lockout will make many NFL players decide what they should do until a new collective bargaining agreement is reached, news broke today that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco will have a tryout for Sporting KC, an MLS team. The tryout will take place March 22-26, a period of time off for the club.
Ochocinco is serious about this and is not using it as a publicity stunt during the lockout. The Daily Wiz, our Sporting KC blog, informs us that Ochocinco had youth experience with the sport and has friends on Spanish pro clubs. But, as Andy Edwards writes, we'll know on Tuesday how serious Ochocinco is about playing in Major League Soccer.
A quick look at the Colorado Rapids' schedule shows us that Sporting Kansas City comes to Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, May 28. Will Ochocinco be a member of the team at that point? Find out next week.
