Colorado wins 3-1, clinches a playoff spot

Brian Mullan, Conor Casey and Omar Cummings scored a goal a-piece in a superb comeback victory over the LA Galaxy, but it wound up not mattering as the Rapids had already clinched a playoff spot.

The New England Revolution defeated the Kansas City Wizards 1-0 earlier today, giving the Rapids an automatic playoff spot even before they kicked off in California. According to Omar Cummings, coach Gary Smith did not let them know what the Kansas City score was before they played the Galaxy.

Edson Buddle wound up having two goals called offside as well as scoring the only tally for the Galaxy in the 8th minute of the game. Colorado’s defense – featuring Wells Thompson at left back of all people – stoned them for the rest of the match with the help of Matt Pickens.

Colorado plays Real Salt Lake for the Rocky Mountain Cup next Saturday.
