Colorado vs. USC: Buffaloes WR Gerald Thomas continues to improve

The true freshman is third on the Buffaloes with 12 catches, and he has three carries over 10 yards from his wide receiver position.

Colorado Buffaloes freshman wide receiver Gerald Thomas is getting more confident with each game he's playing in this season. And that development is just fine for Colorado head coach Jon Embree.

The true freshman from Plano, Texas, has 12 catches for 143 yards in the Buffaloes' six games (2-4) this season.

"He is getting a little more confident with that, he has a good feel for the offense," Embree said at his press conference Oct. 16.

"He doesn't make a lot of mental mistakes. I think he had one on Saturday (in a 51-17 loss against Arizona State), which is pretty good considering all that he is asked to do."

All he's being asked to do is be the team's third-leading receiver with 12 catches and run the ball, as well. He has seven carries on the season, three of them for 10 or more yards.

"He is the guy that we try to get the ball and get him in space and give him the opportunity to do something," Embree said.

Colorado kicks off against USC at 4:07 p.m. MT Saturday in Los Angeles.
