The true freshman from Plano, Texas, has 12 catches for 143 yards in the Buffaloes' six games (2-4) this season.
"He is getting a little more confident with that, he has a good feel for the offense," Embree said at his press conference Oct. 16.
"He doesn't make a lot of mental mistakes. I think he had one on Saturday (in a 51-17 loss against Arizona State), which is pretty good considering all that he is asked to do."
All he's being asked to do is be the team's third-leading receiver with 12 catches and run the ball, as well. He has seven carries on the season, three of them for 10 or more yards.
"He is the guy that we try to get the ball and get him in space and give him the opportunity to do something," Embree said.
Colorado kicks off against USC at 4:07 p.m. MT Saturday in Los Angeles.
