Colorado women's basketball set for important home game vs. Louisville

No. 8 Louisville will head to Boulder on Friday night to play the undefeated Colorado Buffaloes women's basketball squad.

The Colorado Buffaloes women's basketball team is once again off to a hot start, with an 8-0 record in the books. They'll face their toughest test yet on Friday as the welcome the No. 8 Louisville Cardinals to Boulder.

Last season, the Buffs got off to an 11-0 start in non-conference play, but with one caveat -- there were no teams in the Top 25 on the schedule for them. Louisville, a solid all-around team with a great defense and an offense led by junior Shoni Schimmel, are 9-1 on the season with their only loss coming in a one-point affair against No. 7 Kentucky.

Not only can the Cardinals put points on the board, putting more than 90 on their opponents four times this season, they can also stifle their opponents' attack very well. Teams have only twice put up more than 60 on the Cardinals this year. The Colorado offense is good, though, putting up more than 67 points in every game so far this season.

The Buffs have not won a game against a Top 10 team in the nation since 2002, when they took down No. 5 Stanford in the NCAA Tournament.

The game will be at Coors Events Center at 7 p.m. MT.
