The Colorado University Board of Regents extended the contract of basketball head coach Tad Boyle by one year on Wednesday, keeping him with the Buffaloes through the 2017 season. In 2011-12, Boyle's team won the Pac-12 Tournament in its first season in the conference, and beat UNLV in the NCAA Tournament as an 11-seed to advance to the Round of 32 for the first time in 15 years.

Boyle's base salary of $165,830 will not change with the extension, but he can earn bonuses for team performance on the court and player proficiency in the classroom. On Wednesday, Colorado announced a three-man recruiting class consisting of players from Arizona, Washington and Texas. That class follows Boyle's 2012 class, which included top-100 recruits Xavier Johnson and Josh Scott.

The Buffaloes beat Wofford 74-59 on Friday to open their 2012-13 season. Colorado is expected to again finish in the top half of the Pac-12 and contend for a second straight berth in the NCAA Tournament.
