While neither earned a spot in the Top 25, both the Colorado Buffaloes and Colorado State Rams earned votes in the newest NCAA basketball coaches' poll. With just four votes for the Rams and two for the Buffs, they have many teams to pass before breaking into the Top 25, but may be able to do so if they continue to earn victories.
The Rams regular season began with a 72-65 win against Montana while the Buffaloes earned a 74-59 victory against Wofford. Without many difficult games in November for either team, they'll have to keep winning and likely also need losses from some of the Top 25 teams to earn a spot for themselves.
Among those ranked teams are some Pac-12 and Mountain West competitors on the Rams' and Buffs' schedules, including the Arizona Wildcats, San Diego State Aztecs, UCLA Bruins and UNLV Runnin' Rebels. The New Mexico Lobos also managed to earn 11 votes, but didn't appear in the Top 25.
