The Colorado Buffaloes (0-1) will look to rebound from its opening season loss in the Rocky Mountain Showdown by hosting the FCS Sacramento State Hornets (0-1) on Saturday. However, this should not be a game the Buffaloes overlook.
Sacramento State lost to New Mexico State, 49-19, to open the season, but in 2011 the Hornets did upset the Oregon St. Beavers in overtime. Eastern Washington and Youngstown State, both FCS teams, have already beaten FBS teams in 2012. Colorado has no desire to join that company.
The Buffs will look for its ground game to pick up with better play by the offensive line and by running back Tony Jones. The line also had issues pass-protecting, leading to five sacks of quarterback Jordan Webb. Webb did throw two touchdown passes, but he completed 22 of 41 passes and averaged 4.6 yards per pass attempt.
This game is a chance for the Buffs to put together some solid performances before a road contest against the Fresno St. Bulldogs the following week.
Game time/date: 1 p.m. MT, Saturday, Sept. 8
Location: Folsom Field, Boulder, Colo.
TV Schedule: Pac-12 Network
