Colorado Football Recruiting: Colorado High School Star Joins Buffs As Long Snapper

A team's long snapper may be its least talked about position— at least until someone messes up— but it's critical nonetheless. It's also a position that rarely, if ever, gets addressed in recruiting, but Colorado Buffaloes head coach Jon Embree is bringing in a Monarch High star this fall to compete at the position, according to Joshua Lindenstein of BuffZone.com.

That player is Trevor Carver, a Monarch cornerback who holds the school record for longest interception return. Carver is being brought to Boulder as a preferred walk-on, which means that he isn't on scholarship but won't have to try out for his roster spot. Though Carver, who measures out at six feet and 180 pounds, was primarily a corner at Monarch, he also handled long snapping duties and that's what caught the eye of the Buffaloes coaching staff.

Carver had offers to play corner at the Division III level as well as an offer to walk on at Utah as a long snapper, but the Colorado native waited on an offer from the Buffaloes, and jumped on it when it appeared.
