Pac 12 Standings 2012: Colorado 1.5 Game Out Of 1st Place

The Colorado Buffaloes are nearing an end to its first season in the Pac-12, which could lead to a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Colorado Buffaloes remain in contention to capture a Pac-12 regular season in the team's first year as part of the conference, but there are four games remaining on schedule. Entering this week, the Buffs ride a two-game winning streak (victories over Arizona State and Utah) into a Thursday home contest against the Stanford Cardinal; after that, they will welcome the California Golden Bears, currently tied for first with the Washington Huskies, to the Coors Event Center.

The Buffs are playing for one of the four first-round byes in the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament, which begins on March 7. The tournament runs through March 10 and takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

It is quite possible that the Pac-12 will have only one team, its automatic qualifier, in the 2012 NCAA Basketball Tournament, but the No. 2 finisher in the league will certainly be on the bubble.
