The Colorado Buffaloes chewed up 10 minutes on the clock in the fourth quarter to come up with another touchdown, ending any chance the Colorado St. Rams had to make a comeback. Tyler Hansen, Rodney Stewart and Tony Jones all came up big, especially pass plays to Stewart for 14 and 26 yards. But the key play on the drive was a 15-yard face mask penalty on Colorado State's Nuku Latu. Instead of facing 3rd-and-20, the Buffs received a fresh set of downs and moved into Rams territory.
Tyler Hansen, who went 17-of-32 for 215 yards, two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns, put the ball into the end zone for his second rushing touchdown of the game. That effectively ended the Rams' game. Jon Major and Tony Poremba sacked Pete Thomas on the play, the latter on fourth down.
Rodney Stewart had the big day with 19 carries for 98 yards on the groudn. Paul Richardson had a quiet week after his 284-yard receiving yard performance last week. He had just four receptions for 27 yards.
The Buffs won 28-14, picking up head coach Jon Embree's first win with the Buffs. They travel to Columbus, Oh., next week to face the Ohio St. Buckeyes. The Rams will lick their wounds from their first loss and take to the road for a game against the Utah State Aggies.
