Connor Wood has indeed chosen to transfer from the Texas Longhorns to the Colorado Buffaloes, according to Wood's father (via Hookem.com). News of Woods' interest in Colorado began on Monday when he took a reported visited to the Boulder campus. The redshirt freshman was named co-No. 3 quarterback for the Longhorns on Monday with David Ash.
Wood will have three years to play three seasons since he will need to sit out this year under NCAA rules. The Ralphie Report likes this pick up:
This is a good move for both Wood and the Buffaloes as he will have a chance to come in and compete for a job on a team with a departing senior quarterback and the Buffs get more depth at the position.
The Colorado staff must believe that top quarterback Shane Dillon won't be turned off by this news, as some Colorado sources have claimed that Dillon is the top priority for the Buffs and their quarterback of the future. However, an untested freshman shouldn't have anything guaranteed for him. The quarterback competition between Wood, Dillon, Nick Hirschman and John Schrock should be an intense one in 2012.
