Jim Tressel Resigning As Ohio State Football Coach, According To Report

Embattled Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Jim Tressel has resigned from his position and an official announcement is expected to be made on Monday, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Tressel came under fire for his involvement and knowledge of a memorabilia-for-tattoos scandal and a cheap cars scandal.

Tressel was set to miss the first five games along with his star quarterback Terrelle Pryor for infractions in the tattoos scandal, but over the last two months the extent of Tressel's knowledge of the scandal as it happened deepened and the NCAA began its investigation into the matter.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, new head coach Jon Embree and the Colorado Buffaloes head to Columbus for a showdown with the Buckeyes. Given the amount of talent Ohio State has, it may be tough to predict a Buffs upset, but who knows how this team will react to all the turmoil surrounding it.

Assistant coach Luke Fickell was already slated to be the interim coach during Tressel's five-game suspension, but it appears that he will now be the interim coach for all of 2011. But I'm sure Ohio State will look for a big name coach after the season ends.
