The Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Baylor Bears on Wednesday, 84-67, as the latter was without Perry Jones III. Jones was suspended earlier in the day for receiving preferential treatment and violation of his amateur status before enrolling at the school. The absence of the team's second-leading scorer and rebounder was surely felt.
Oklahoma held a 39-22 lead at halftime, but played even with the Bears in the second half. Both teams scored 45 points then. Cade Davis led the Sooners with 24 points, and Carl Blair added a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists. They received 10 points each from Steven Pledger and Cameron Clark.
For Baylor Quincy Acy led the team with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Playing with only three guys on the bench, they contributed only 12 points. Fred Ellis scored half of that total in 27 minutes on the court.
The Sooners will face the Texas Longhorns on Thursday. Missouri and Texas Tech are playing the last game of the Opening Round. Here is tomorrow's schedule:
