The Colorado Buffaloes kept their tournament hopes alive by avenging last week's loss to the Iowa St. Cyclones Wednesday afternoon and now advance to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. With Colorado's win over the Cyclones they did not move up in the latest Bracketology projections as they are still in the opening round game against the Clemson Tigers. However, a win today over the Kansas St. Wildcats -- which would be their third over the Wildcats this year -- should move Colorado out of the opening round game and into the main bracket.
The Colorado St. Rams have the most to gain today when they begin Mountain West tournament action this afternoon, taking on the New Mexico Lobos. The Rams are currently one of the last eight teams out, but with every major conference tournament going on today a lot can change by tomorrow. The only certain thing is that the Rams must win today to keep alive an at-large bid.
On the other hand, the Northern Colorado Bears defeated the Montana Grizzles Wednesday night to earn their first every NCAA tournament bid. The Bears currently sit at a 15 seed facing the San Diego St. Aztecs, and barring any major upsets in the conference tournaments the Bears should stay at a 15 seed.
