NCAA Basketball Rankings: No. 7 BYU Cougars Receive Two First-Place Votes In AP Poll

The BYU Cougars are ranked No 7 in the latest AP Top 25 poll results, but two voters believe they should be the No. 1 team. Surprisingly, the Cougars have more first-place votes (2) than the team ahead of them, the No. 6 San Diego St. Aztecs, who received none in this poll. The Aztecs picked up three first-place votes in the Coaches poll. The Cougars sent San Diego St. to their first loss of the year a couple of weeks ago, and the two will face each other in Viejas Arena in San Diego this Saturday.

The Duke Blue Devils took No. 1 in this poll as well. The Ohio St. Buckeyes, the Kansas Jayhawks, the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Texas Longhorns completed the top five. All of them received at least one first-place vote.

The St. John's Red Storm, previously No. 31, jumped into the rankings following their victory over No. 4 Pitt. They are ranked No. 23.

The UNLV Runnin' Rebels were the third team from the Mountain West to receive votes. UNLV finished No. 31 this week. Harvard (20-4) received one vote.
