Conference realignment can lead to there being some unfamiliar bedfellows, and though the states of Colorado and Utah border each other, both states' flagship universities haven't met on the football field since 1962, when the Utes took home a 37-21 victory. There isn't much of a rivalry between the two schools, even though it feels like there should be one, and so both schools' fanbases are trying to start one up in jest.
On Oct. 22, the Utes were 3-4 on the year and 0-4 in the conference, but that tune has changed, and they'll enter the Colorado game with an overall record of 7-4 and a conference record of 4-4. A victory over Colorado would help cap off a massive mid-season turn around and would allow the Utes to finish with a winning conference record in their inaugural season in the Pac-12. For the Buffaloes, they would certainly like to finish the season with a victory, and with both teams beginning to fight for the same recruits, Friday's game could be an important territorial match up.
