The Colorado Buffaloes started the 2011-12 season with a 85-57 victory over the Fort Lewis (CO) Skyhawks on Friday night. Without Alec Burks or Cory Higgins, the Buffs began a new era and easily handled their Division II opponent.
Andre Roberson moved into the starting lineup and continued his rebounding ways with a team-high 15 boards. He added 13 points, tied for second with Utah transfer Carlon Brown. Austin Dufault joined Roberson in the double-double category by scoring a team-high 18 point and pulling down 10 rebounds. Freshman Spencer Dinwiddie scored seven points on 2-of-9 shooting and 3-of-4 free throw attempts. He did grab seven rebounds.
Sabatino Chen came off the bench for the Buffs to score 10 points. Askia Booker finished with nine points and four rebounds.
Fort Lewis' Matt Billups had a game-high 23 points. He is a second cousin to Chauncey Billups.
Colorado hops onto a plane for the Puerto Rico Tip-off that begins on Thursday. The Buffs begin the tournament against the Wichita St. Shockers.
