Windsor High School (CO) offensive guard Joey O'Connor has retracted his verbal commitment to the Penn St. Nittany Lions in wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal at the school. O'Connor had committed to the school back in June, but on Wednesday night he and his family determined that his recruitment should be re-opened.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound guard received seven offers from Pac-12 school and also had offers from the Colorado St. Rams, the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Tennessee Volunteers, according to Rivals. One of those Pac-12 schools was the Colorado Buffaloes and they are very much in play, reports Kyle Ringo of the Daily Camera.
O'Connor is keeping Penn State in the mix, but at this point it would seem unlikely that he would re-commit to the school. Without any idea what the NCAA might do to the school, O'Connor would do best to avoid that situation. Whether he winds up with the Buffaloes, though, is something floating in the ether at this point.
